Sunday, May 08, 2005Mac SpywareWith the release of Tiger and the new dashboard widgets someone has finally created spyware for the Mac. Its name is zaptastic and although it is just annoying some security concerns arise. Spyware is on the way for the innocent Mac user. I don't think spyweare will be as prevalent on the Mac as it is on windows but that is only because more people use windows. However the culture of Mac users might become fertile ground for spyware venders. Mac users have historically disregarded security. I don’t know if any of my readers have heard of a new thing called Podcasting but I have been doing it for several weeks. No I don’t provide content but I do listen to just about every cast I can get my grubby little hands on. What is Podcasting? Podcasting is a great new way of distributing audio and video (mostly audio) automatically. When a site offers a Podcast feed you can subscribe to the feed using Podcasting software and any new items will be automatically downloaded to your computer. As the name implies, if you have a portable audio player, the files can also be copied to the player. YOU DON’T NEED AN IPOD to partake in the fun. The software I use is called iPodder and is available for Mac, Windows and Linux. So, join in on the revolution you might like it. You might even want to make a Podcast of your own.
